The Velvet Touch

Die bronzene Göttin

1948

Content:

Famous Broadway star Valerie Stanton has a violent argument with her former lover Gordon Dunning when she refuses to play the leading role in his new play. Instead she would prefer to play the leading lady in Mr. Ganter's theatre in "Hedda Gabler".

When during their argument Gordon learns that Valerie wants to marry her love interest Michael Morrell he intimidates and threatens her. Valerie gets so frightened that she takes a bronze statuette and hits him. She is terrified when she notices that Gordon is dead and leaves numbly telling nobody what happened.

Valerie could leave the theatre without beeing seen so the police has no lead to her. Prime suspect seems to be Marian Webster who was secretly in love with Gordon. A day before she, too, had an argument with Gordon and she was found unconscious near Gordon's body. Will the first interrogation in the theatre unveil the real killer?

In the English version Lex' role as Valerie's colleague is a bit bigger. Once he is seen playing opposite Valerie Stanton as her husband.
